Almost a Clean Sweep of Awards for Children’s Books: On May 6, 2010, Connecticut Press Club held its annual awards and I walked away (on air) with three out of the four awards given out in the children’s book category. First place went to my tiger tales title, Bunnies Are for Kissing, illustrated by Jacqueline East; second place went to Noah’s Notebook, from Harvest House, and honorable mention to tiger tales’ Mrs. McGee’s Coconut, illustrated by Peter Cottril.

TOYS WIN TOP AWARDS FROM CREATIVE CHILD Two toys I developed for W.J. Fantasy Toy Company, in Connecticut, have received high honors in the 2008 Creative Child Magazine Toy Awards.

My First Words, Slide n’ See Blocks, which teaches letters and words, has received the Creative Toy Award Seal of Excellence. And Fairy Tale Blocks, a Touch-and-Feel Block Set, which teaches simple fairytales, as well as recognition of tactile materials, received the 2008 Top Choice Award.

The Creative Child Magazine’s Toy Awards Program is unique in that all products submitted are reviewed by a panel of evaluators comprised of moms, music educators and early education professionals, the very people who purchase them. The awards recognize play products that meet the publication’s high standards for nurturing creativity, safety, design, durability and social responsibility.

VEGGIE TALES WINS 2008 OUTSTANDING PRODUCTS AWARD Two of the titles I wrote for Scholastic, FairandSquaresville and One Good Knight, were among the books in the VeggieTales™ Values to Grow By Gift of the Month Club Series, which won the 2008 Outstanding Products Winner from iParenting Media Awards®
